This composition was commissioned by a choir for their beloved choir director (Donna Brown) – who had served them faithfully for 20 years. A committee chose the poem and Dr. Nickel tried to be sure that there was a good marriage between the music and the text. A special group within the choir prepared the premiere and then presented it to Donna when she wasn’t expecting it – at the end of a May concert.
