Originally a snippet of an old Celtic lyric poem, it came into use as an Irish blessing. In traditional Earth religions the sun was viewed as representative of the higher aspect of a person's consciousness that could guide them on the spiritual path with Divinity. The blessing was chosen in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan as a mantra to close each Kundalini yoga class.
