When Thunder Comes is a celebration of American Civil Rights heroes. It composed for One Voice Mixed Chorus—Minnesota's LGBTA Chorus for their concert "Queer Thunder" in collaboration with Mu Daiko taiko ensemble and arranged for Seattle Women's Chorus and San Diego Women's chorus for their concerts "Fired Up" and "Elements: Songs of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water," respectively. The drums—a literal representation of a grass roots revolution—provide the thunder, and the overall message is that our many voices, once unified, will "drown out fear."
